These special offers also take the form of a percentage discount or free nights based on the number of nights you stay. They’re often worded as a ‘stay/pay’ offer, for example, ‘stay four nights and only pay for three’, or ‘stay 5 nights and receive a 20% discount’. They usually don’t discount flights, transfers, car hire or activities.
Packaged offers
These African safari special offers– which include accommodation, flights, transfers and often additional activities – are usually only offered by safari lodge operators that own or operate groups of lodges. They can often be great value for money because they might include connecting flights at cost or less than cost, with the aim of getting you to stay at a number of safari lodges within a group, over the course of your safari.

For example, if you spend more than three nights at a lodge you might receive a complimentary helicopter transfer or a hot-air balloon excursion. While these offers are excellent value for the proposed add-on, they usually don’t reduce your safari’s overall cost significantly, unless booked in conjunction with other offers.
Combining offers and seasons
While many African safari special offers are limited to certain times of the year, there are many that are valid year-round. Remember to consider the following: high-season specials offer you the opportunity for the biggest ‘dollar value’ savings, while low-season specials undoubtedly offer the best value for money.
