Welcome to Kenya! Upon arrival at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, you will be met and transferred by road to Wilson Airport in time for your scheduled charter flight to the Masai Mara. Reawaken your soul during your three-night stay at Bateleur Camp, where you can enjoy day and night game drives, nature walks, bush breakfasts, dinners and sundowner cocktails.
Wake up to the sounds of the bush and set out in an open 4×4 safari vehicle, searching for the incredible wildlife in the Masai Mara. Your professionally trained guide will ask you about your favourite wildlife and will do their best to ensure that your preferences are met, whether it’s tracking a particular species or spending more time enjoying each sighting, getting to know the habits of the animals. Ask your hosts to serve your dinner on the lawns and unwind under a star-strewn sky; later you could join a Maasai warrior under a tree and listen to his mesmerising stories of the local culture.
Today you could take a guided nature walk through a riverine forest, savannah grasslands and bush land surrounding the camp on the Mara River. Or perhaps wake at the crack of dawn and take to the skies in on a hot-air balloon. Enjoy a bird’s-eye perspective of the landscape for an hour before you finish off with Champagne and a full English breakfast(additional cost). Enjoy your game-viewing activities, lounge in the comfortable interiors or find a shady spot on the secluded private verandahs to laze the afternoon away. Sip on a cocktail at the bar or take a dip in the swimming pool, literally on the edge of the Mara and boasting the most extraordinary views.
This morning, after a delicious breakfast you will take a road transfer to the airstrip and depart on your light-aircraft flight from the Masai Mara into the Serengeti, with a cross-border transfer en route. From the airstrip, you will be met and transferred by road to Serengeti Under Canvas. Settle in and absorb the rustic charm of camping combined with true comfort and luxury. Relax under the dark velvet night sky and sample hearty cuisine served on sparkling crystal and silver. Cluster around a roaring campfire to share stories of the day’s magic and listen to the African night come alive.
Wake to the song of the birds and head out to explore. The game drives are tailored to suit your preference, with a choice between shorter, twice-daily drives or one long all-day game drive with a stop for a picnic lunch. The annual movements of the camps are carefully planned to anticipate the progress of the Great Wildebeest Migration, so you should not have to travel too far to see the vast herds. However, if the migration has moved off you may choose to spend more time in the vehicle in order to maximise your chances of seeing this incredible phenomenon. When the migration herds are not within easy reach, the camps remain in some of the most remote and beautiful corners of the Serengeti, with game drives setting off in search of the exceptional resident game.
Rise and shine, enjoy breakfast and you’re off to Ngorongoro Crater on a light-aircraft flight, landing at Lake Manyara Airstrip. From here, you will embark on a road transfer to Ngorongoro Crater lodge, which is fit for a king and queen, on the very edge of the crater. Enjoy a sumptuous three-course dinner, in the dining area, from within a wine cellar or on a deck overlooking the crater.
As the lodge is situated on the rim of the Ngorongoro Crater, it takes some time to reach the crater’s floor for game drives, and after return to the lodge. As such, you’ll most likely be offered the choice of one morning or afternoon game drive per day. You will descend into the crater through a lush highland forest, with magnificent birdlife to be spotted among the different tree species. Once on the grassy crater floor, you may discover a large variety of grazing herbivores, as well as the predators that are attracted by this abundant supply of prey.
