Sandibe Okavango Safari Lodge | Okavango Delta
The reason this eco-lodge makes our top-10 safari lodges in Botswana is not only due to its beauty, but because it’s marvellously sustainability-focused: actively conserving wildlife, supporting the neighbouring communities and utilising renewable energy. Design elements throughout the lodge take inspiration from local flora and fauna, while the 12 elevated suites offer bird’s-eye views of the World Heritage Site in which its located, while including creature comforts such as private plunge pools. San Camp | Makgadikgadi Pans
Well … San Camp is simply paradisiacal. Its classic white tents, set on the edge of the Makgadikgadi Pans, are reminiscent of Lawrence of Arabia: taut white canvas, shaded by palm trees, flapping in the desert breeze. The timeless elegance of the interiors perfectly match the prehistoric landscape, while offering every luxury and indulgence, from four-poster beds to a natural history museum and library and a tent dedicated to the art of drinking tea. Duba Explorers Camp | Okavango Delta
As its name suggests, Duba Explorers Camp will bring out the adventurer in you. Your first challenge is making your way onto the wooded island it calls home via an elaborate and exciting set of bridges. Then it’s all about traversing the interconnecting waterways, palm-dotted islands, floodplains and woodland that make up this private concession in the Greater Okavango Delta – by boat or specially-adapted ‘swamp’ vehicles. And yes, the interior design of the camp and its six tents matches the theme wonderfully. Continue exploring…

Kalahari Plains Camp | Kalahari Desert
Set on an immense pan in the remote north of the Central Kalahari, this camp provides a luxurious sanctuary within a rugged environment, albeit one with a mysterious, desolate beauty. The primary reason we’ve included it on our top-10 safari lodges in Botswana, however, is because of its star beds. Located on the private rooftop terraces of each of the nine tented rooms, these clever additions make for utterly romantic nights under the African skies. Continue exploring…

Xugana Island Lodge | Okavango Delta
At Art of Safari, we’re big believers that solitude is the new luxury, and this camp offers it in spades. Set on an island in an exclusive, private concession, you couldn’t get further off the grid if you tried – or more accurately, you couldn’t get more remote, as the lodge offers all the luxuries of modern life while still being wonderfully isolated. So isolated, in fact, that you can only arrive there by a combination of light aircraft and boat. Continue exploring…

Ngoma Safari Lodge | Chobe
This lovely lodge is located on the doorstep of Chobe National Park, land of the elephant. Furthermore, it was built near an ancient elephant trail, which means it’s not unusual to find the grey behemoths quenching their thirst at the river it faces onto, or even at its natural swimming pool! Each of the eight suites has their own private plunge pools, so the human guests can cool down too – with a cocktail, perhaps, instead of sipping the water. Continue exploring…

Skybeds | Okavango Delta
Skybeds is just that: plush beds on three luxury platforms, where you can sleep caressed by starlight. Raised some 5m, the platforms offer 360-degree views of the Khwai Private Reserve in which they’re located, as well as an uninterrupted vantage point over a busy waterhole. This feast for the eyes is not the only impressive spread on offer, though: expect sumptuous meals and refreshing drinks delivered to you in your grown-up treehouse. Continue exploring…

Kings Pool | Linyanti
While the Okavango Delta gets all the glory in Botswana, lagoon hopping in Linyanti is well worth doing. Not only does the concession boast Africa’s highest density of elephant, but it’s adjacent to the famous Chobe National Park. This lodge overlooks the Linyati River and Kings Pool Lagoon, so wildlife watching will not disappoint. Enjoy it on game drives, a colonial-style barge or from the comfort of two hides. Which reminds us, there’s also a fun sleep-out hide at a nearby camp. Continue exploring…

Sable Alley | Okavango Delta
We think this camp is worthy of our top-10 safari lodges in Botswana simply because it affords such a classic safari experience. Accommodation is provided in 12 luxury tents, stretching each side of the main thatched area. Their palette is predominantly neutral shades, which ensures nothing distracts from the beauty of the surroundings. Sit back and relax as an almost constant parade of animals and birds cross your line of sight. Continue exploring…

Savute Safari Lodge | Savute
The Savute Channel is known as the ‘Stolen River’ as it floods and dries up on its own mysterious schedule. Savute Safari Lodge is set on its banks, and each of its 12 chalets are perched on raised, private decks, affording excellent views over the comings and goings of the wildlife – which is fortunate, as this ensures great sightings of the local zebra migration. Other pastimes include game drives, swimming and San rock-art excursions. Continue exploring…
