The plethora of activities on offer at Victoria Falls and Hwange ensures that no time is wasted, and a short Zimbabwe safari can be easily and enjoyably filled. This efficiency extends to getting in and out, with the new international airport making travel more convenient than ever.
Getting the most out of short Zimbabwe safaris
Short on time? No problem. While epic, long safaris are glorious (and we highly recommend them), don’t let time limitations stop you from manifesting your safari dream.
A simple, but effective, way to maximise your time is to pick a safari lodge that’s easy to get to, and then staying there for the duration of your short Zimbabwe safari. This means unpacking, and repacking, once, and minimising transits.
Whether you go for a two-day Zimbabwe safari, a three-day Zimbabwe safari or a four-day Zimbabwe safari, we’ll help you make the very most of it.
Our favourite short Zimbabwe safari destination
The best short Zimbabwe safaris happen in Hwange National Park and the Victoria Falls area. The former, the country’s largest game park, is all about wildlife experiences, particularly seeing huge herds of elephant and buffalo.
You can enjoy a wonderful game drive in Victoria Falls National Park too, but at the falls and river you can also indulge (if that’s the right word) in some of the more extreme activities on offer.
Simply watching the cascade of water is exciting enough for many people, but depending on the season, you can have a closer encounter with the waterfall by swimming in the Devil’s Pool immediately above it (across the Zambian border) or white-water rafting through Batoka Gorge below it.
When the Zambezi is in spate, a scenic helicopter or microlight flight above the clouds of spray can be the best way to appreciate Victoria Falls, but it’s also a brilliant option if time is a factor. After all, you’ll also want to set aside some hours for encountering the falls on foot – and for drying out afterwards!
A more serene approach is to enjoy a sunset cruise along the river – the sundowner hour, with its golden light, is one you’ll wish you could extend almost indefinitely. Spending time in Victoria Falls gives you a rush without ever being hurried – the town itself is small enough that you’ll lose very little time between activities.
You’ll want to make time for posting pictures of your adventures on social media – after all, one of the best things about a short safari is how long afterwards you can make your friends feel jealous for.
