A Malachite Kingfisher Looking Around

The malachite kingfisher (Corythornis cristatus) can generally be recognised but its bright metallic-blue upperparts. It has a short crest of black and blue feathers on its head and white patches on its throat and rear neck sides. Its bill starts out black before going a reddish-orange with age, and it has bright red legs. Males and females are similar. It can be spotted south of the Sahara in the safari destinations of South Africa, Namibia, Botswana, Zimbabwe, Malawi, Mozambique, Zambia, Tanzania, Uganda, Congo and Rwanda.
