If you’d like to hit the hotspots of Tanzania, then this eight-day safari is for you. Your first stop is Tarangire, the perfect locale to wine, dine and adventure. Next, your journey to the world famous Ngorongoro Crater will take you via Lake Manyara, where you can witness the incredible spectacle of immense flocks of flamingos gathering to feed and breed. Finally, you’ll fly into the Serengeti, home to a multitude of wildlife year round.
From Arusha Airport, you’ll be met and embark on a three-to-four-hour road transfer through Maasai country and Tarangire National Park, where you’ll begin to spot some game. You’ll be delivered to Kuro Tarangire, beautifully set among a grove of trees on the banks of the Tarangire River. This is where you’ll wine, dine and adventure over the next two days.
Wake up early and feel the cool of the morning air while you go to investigate evidence of the night’s activities along the river. Later in the day, climb into your 4×4 game vehicle and head out in anticipation of discovery. Wind your way along riverbanks in search of lion, spot leopard asleep in giant trees and scan the grass for big herds of buffalo. While all of this is going on, keep your eyes peeled for the 550 species of birds. Drive after sunset and uncover the night creatures of the park. Often the first sign that something is out there is a pair of eyes shining in the dark; it could be anything: a pole cat, a porcupine or even a leopard.
Enjoy breakfast and depart with your driver guide, heading through the Rift Valley towards the Ngorongoro Highlands. Arriving in the early afternoon, settle in while you take in the spectacular scenery on a guided walk along the crater rim and surrounding highlands with a Maasai scout. Enjoy dinner at camp.
Wake up bright and early and, soon after dawn, you’ll be heading down into the crater to take in the outstanding volumes of wildlife. After a picnic lunch, you’ll return to camp, where you can go walking along the crater rim in the fresh highland air with the highly trained Nomad guides and a Maasai scout to learn about the smaller things, and the ancient Maasai culture.
Depart Entamanu Ngorongoro by way of road transfer into the Serengeti National Park. Enjoy a day of game viewing and a picnic lunch as you make your way through the park to your camp. You’ll be welcomed at Lamai Serengeti with time to relax and settle in whilst taking in the amazing views. Enjoy dinner and a crackling fire to end the day.
Relax and enjoy being on the Lamai Wedge; bustling with mammals, this beautiful kopje is a sacred wildlife haven with healthy concentrations of lion, leopard and buffalo to be seen all year round. Venture out in custom-built, rugged 4x4s or on foot (seasonal) to explore the winding river lines, rocky outcrops and sweeping plains. Dine under cover or in the fresh open air and enjoy picnics, sundowners and bush breakfasts. Swim and lounge all while looking out over the Serengeti.
Once again, the day is yours to spend at leisure or on an adventure. Walking in the bush is a fantastic experience, it gives you the chance to really learn about the intricacies of the African wilderness; to taste, touch, smell and feel Africa. You don’t get as up close and personal to the big game, but you do meet the little guys, all equally important in the grand scheme of things. On the game drives, you’ll get to explore the Northern Serengeti with a very experienced guide. These allow you to get closer to the big game and explore further afield.
Today you’ll depart the Serengeti from Kogatende Airstrip, on a shared charter flight to Kilimanjaro International Airport for your further travel arrangements.
