Enjoy true isolation on this superb 8-day safari, which takes you off the beaten track in Tanzania. From Dar es Salaam, jet off to start your adventure in Nyerere National Park, formerly Selous Game Reserve, the largest wilderness area in Africa. Next, you’ll fly into the remote south of the country to Ruaha National Park an equally wild and beautiful reserve.
After arriving at Dar es Salaam International Airport, you will be met and transferred to your accommodation. Settle in and relax in the gardens, around the pool or at the pool bar as you recover from your flights and get ready for the start of your safari.
After breakfast, return to the airport for your light aircraft flight to Nyerere National Park, where you’ll be met and introduced to this beautiful reserve and its wildlife on the way to camp. Settle into your spacious tent; after lunch, there’s time to relax by the pool before you set off on your afternoon safari activity.
Each morning and afternoon you can choose from the safari activities on offer. Today a game drive may catch your fancy, a good way of exploring further afield and seeing the larger wildlife and predators. Nyere is home to a superb variety of wildlife, including good populations of lion and leopard, and Africa’s largest population of wild dog.
Perhaps a walking safari is your choice of activity this morning, a real treat offering a slower pace to learn about the flora and fauna of the Selous. Boat safaris on the lake are particularly lovely in the afternoon, combined with a spot of fishing or sundowners, and offer a good chance of getting up close to pods of hippos and bird colonies nesting on small islands.
Savour breakfast and depart to the airstrip for your flight to Ruaha airstrip, where you will be welcomed and briefed on the surrounding area en-route to camp. On arrival, settle in to your room, taking in the view from your private deck. Head out on a game drive, returning to camp for a delicious meal. Make your way to the camp area for an after-dinner drink and a crackling fire.
Rise and shine to the sounds of the African bush. There are a couple of options on how your day is structured. Walking safaris are a great way to start the day exploring the environment, on an equal footing with the wildlife. Choose morning or full-day game drives with picnic lunches or a relaxed lunch in camp with an afternoon game drive. Enjoy dinner, prepared by the local chef before sitting around the campfire, sharing stories of the day.
Wake up to a leisurely game drive and breakfast before enjoying the camp’s facilities… lounge around the pool or enjoy a massage at the spa. Head out with a picnic lunch on an afternoon game drive or perhaps it’s a game drive under the Starry African sky that calls to you? The day is yours to experience, relax, dine and enjoy.
After breakfast in camp, you will be driven to the airstrip for your light-aircraft flight to Dar es Salaam International airport to continue with your onward travel arrangements.
