After arriving in Tanzania, spend a night resting in Arusha among coffee plantations. Then it’s off to beautiful Lake Manyara, passing the Masai Steppe en route. Next up, enter the Serengeti, famed for the richness of its game, which you’ll see in abundance on game drives. After some time exploring the Eden-like Ngorongoro Crater, you’ll head to lovely Tarangire before returning home.

After breakfast, you’ll have a safari briefing then spend the morning at leisure. After lunch, depart Arusha, passing through the Masai Steppe – filled with many picturesque African villages as well as maize, coffee and banana plantations. At the town of Makuyuni, you’ll turn northwest, journeying through a scenic escarpment that brings you to your lodge, perched on the edge of the Rift Valley with stunning views over distant Lake Manyara.

Wake up to a lodge breakfast followed by a game drive in Lake Manyara National Park. You will then return to the lodge for lunch, and begin the next part of your adventure. Leaving Lake Manyara behind, continue northwest across the stunning hilly countryside of the highlands, which is filled with wheat and coffee plantations. You will then enter the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, and begin spotting wildlife as you approach the gate to Serengeti National Park. Dinner is at your lodge.

Today gives you the opportunity to explore the Serengeti’s vast plains and its masses of game with experienced guides. Rise early for a morning game drive, then take some time to relax back at the lodge. After lunch, head back out for an afternoon game drive. It’s possible to pre-book an optional early morning balloon safari at an additional cost.

After breakfast, you’ll depart the lodge for Ngorongoro, viewing the wildlife across the vast Serengeti plains as you go. After stopping en route for a relaxed picnic lunch, continue on to your lodge, which is set high on the rim of Ngorongoro Crater – the world’s largest intact volcanic caldera. Enjoy dinner at the lodge.

After breakfast, descend 600m through the mist into what’s commonly referred to as the world’s largest natural wildlife arena. Due to its size and diversity, the crater floor is comprised of several distinct areas, ranging from forest, swamps, lakes and springs to open grassland and some sandy dunes, which offer a truly unique wildlife experience. After a picnic lunch, return to the lodge.

Depart Ngorongoro Crater after breakfast, heading southeast past Lake Manyara and Mto Wa Mbu Village. View the scenic wheat plains and coffee plantations as you drive through the highlands and the Karatu district, before journeying down the spectacular escarpment, turning south to Arusha. Enjoy game viewing as you drive through Tarangire to your lodge. After lunch, enjoy an afternoon game drive.

Depart Tarangire Sopa Lodge after breakfast and head northeast to Arusha. The journey will again pass through the Masai Steppe, filled with many picturesque African villages as well as maize, coffee and banana plantations. After lunch in Arusha, take a road transfer to Kilimanjaro International Airport for your onward travel arrangements.

Some details

  • This is a small group set departure safari that starts every Sunday and Friday.
  • Your safari will be in a specially customised 4×4 vehicle with a pop-up roof.
  • There are never more than seven travellers per vehicle and window seats are guaranteed.
  • Alternative accommodation in similar lodges may be used in the event of non-availability.
  • An additional USD45 per person per night is applicable over the Christmas period (24 December to 1 January) as well as USD40 over the Easter period (10–13 April).
  • Single traveller:
    • An additional USD90 is payable for transfer costs for participants arriving and departing alone.
    • Single travellers can only be confirmed if three other participants are already booked.
  • This is a quotation only and is subject to availability of all services at the time of booking.

 

Travelling with children:

  • No children under seven.
  • One child aged 7–11 sharing with two adults pays 50% of safari cost.
  • Children aged 7–11 sharing their own room pay 75% of safari cost.
