Get ready for an exciting seven-day safari in Botswana! A thrilling 30-minute flight over the impressive Okavango Delta whisks you from Maun to Xugana Island for three splendid nights at this year-round water location. From Maun Airport, you’ll embark on your 30-minute light-aircraft transfer to Xugana Island Lodge. Now that you’re here, you can begin to explore the crystal-clear waterways by mokoro (traditional dugout canoe) or motorboat, for the chance to enjoy the magnificent variety of bird, plant and reptile species found in the area.
Rise and shine – it’s time to explore the Okavango Delta. After an early morning wake-up call, you can enjoy a light continental breakfast followed by a three-to-four hour morning activity. Brunch will be served, after which you’ll have time to relax and take in your surroundings. Afternoon tea will be served on the open-air patio, followed by your afternoon activity. You’ll arrive back at the lodge in time to freshen up and enjoy dinner.
Today, spend the day at your leisure around the lodge and enjoy the lodge’s scheduled safari activities, such as game viewing, walking, fishing, bird watching or taking an authentic guided mokoro excursion through this wetland paradise in a traditional dugout canoe. Commonly spotted animals include lion, rhino, leopard, giraffe, hippos, elephant, crocodile and countless species of bird.
Depart Xugana Island Lodge for your half-hour light-aircraft transfer to Savute Safari Lodge. From the airstrip, it will take about 25 minutes by road to the lodge. Lodge activities are organised around game drives throughout the Savute area. Many trips will incorporate a visit to the Savute Marsh to give you a chance to see the Savute Channel against a backdrop of teeming wildlife. You can also enjoy a visit to the ancient San rock paintings at Gubatsa Hills – a small hilly outcrop that forms a prominent landmark in the otherwise flat landscape.
