Then it’s time to set off for two thrilling nights on the Oddballs’ Mokoro Trail, exploring the Okavango Delta by dug-out canoe. Relax for a night back at Oddballs’ Camp before flying across to Chobe National Park for two nights at Savuti Camp. Here you’ll explore the fascinating Savute Marsh, which is jam-packed with wildlife of all kinds.

Upon arrival in Maun, you’ll be met by a representative, who will assist you to the light aircraft and onwards air transfer to Oddballs’ Camp. There is a great raised viewing deck that overlooks the sweep of the delta – the perfect vantage from which to watch the sun set over the palms and view whatever wildlife may be visiting. Hearty and wholesome meals are served in the dining room, which looks across the Boro Channel to Chief’s Island and Moremi Game Reserve. The activities here are conducted by your own professional guide, a man of the swamp, born and bred in the area.

Set off with your guide and camping equipment in a mokoro (dug-out canoe) for your two-night adventure. As the day passes, your guide will select an island to camp on. After beaching the mokoro, he’ll assist with the erection of your tent, the gathering of firewood, the collection of water, and the general establishment of your campsite in a spot conducive to your safety and comfort. As the afternoon mellows, he will take you for a walk. On your return in the evening, the fire will be set and, with your guide’s assistance, you’ll prepare your evening meal over the open coals, under a sky spangled with stars.

Then it’s time to really discover this area with another exploratory walk, viewing birds, game and the spectacular scenery for which the Okavango is renowned. Back at camp, tuck into a late breakfast, then relax, enjoying a siesta – or perhaps take the chance to read up on some of the fascinating things you’ve seen on your walks.
