After a night in Nairobi, recuperating from your international flight, enjoy a short flight to Samburu. Here you’ll enjoy two nights in the rugged north, spending time with the elephant, before moving on towards Ol Pejeta for two nights in the foothills of Mount Kenya. Stop for a night in the Great Rift Valley at glorious Lake Elmenteita before driving on to spend your last three nights on safari in the iconic, game-rich Masai Mara.
Welcome to Kenya! On arrival in Nairobi, you’ll be met and assisted through immigration and customs before your guest manager escorts you by private vehicle to your hotel. Enjoy a welcome safari briefing at your hotel, with rest of day at leisure.
Enjoy breakfast at your hotel before embarking on a road transfer to Wilson Airport for your light-aircraft flight to Samburu. Upon arrival, you’ll be greeted and taken to Elephant Bedroom Camp, nestled in a riverine forest along the banks of the Ngiro River.
Climb aboard the 4×4 safari vehicle for a day of game-viewing activities amidst Samburu’s stunning landscapes, featuring dry plains, winding rivers, and the majestic backdrop of Mount Kenya. Between thrilling game drives, unwind at the camp’s plunge pool or relax in the vibrant safari-style lounge, where you can watch the elephants, monkeys, and impalas that frequently visit the camp.
Start your day with an early breakfast before heading to Ol Pejeta, a private wildlife sanctuary with stunning views of Mount Kenya. Enjoy a unique lunch spot and a fun photo opportunity at the equator along the way. Arrive at your safari camp in the late afternoon, which is built around a floodlit waterhole. Dinner will be served in the charming old farmhouse.
Take in a day of game-viewing activities with your safari guide in the Ol Pejeta reserve, visiting the only chimpanzee sanctuary in Kenya, where abandoned and rescued chimps are rehabilitated. A selection of optional activities – including night game drives, escorted walking safaris and camel rides with the local naturalist – are available.
Enjoy breakfast, then depart for the Great Rift Valley, the location of some of the oldest, largest and deepest lakes in the world. The alkaline shallow soda lakes of Lake Elementeita and Lake Nakuru are famous for their flamingo flocks, which gather to feed and breed along the lakeshore. After lunch, spend the afternoon at your leisure at your safari lodge.
Your safari guide will arrange a day of exploring to suit your preferences before you return to your lodge. You may visit nearby Lake Nakuru National Park, known for its flamingos as well as for being a breeding sanctuary for the endangered black rhino, white rhino and the rare Rothschild’s giraffe. Alternatively, travel further north to another Rift Valley Lake, Bogoria, for some great bird watching. Enjoy a picnic lunch before returning to your safari lodge for the evening.
Depart after breakfast and drive along the Great Rift Valley floor and enter the Masai Mara National Reserve, where you immediately begin game viewing, passing wildlife herds on the vast savannah plains as you drive towards your accommodation. After lunch, take a late afternoon game drive, returning to your lodge for dinner.
Enjoy a full day of exceptional game viewing in the Masai Mara following herds of wildebeest, zebra, gazelle, eland, topi, impala and many other species. Herds of giraffe and elephant create a magical silhouette against the treeless savannah. Your safari guide can arrange an extended game viewing drive, travelling further into the sanctuary far away from the other visitors and vehicles. Enjoy a picnic lunch before returning late afternoon to your safari lodge.
Experience another full day of game viewing, enjoying a picnic lunch under a magnificent acacia tree before returning late afternoon to your safari lodge. Lion, leopard and cheetah are found here in greater concentrations than anywhere else in Africa and you may be lucky to catch one of the big cats stalking its prey.
Enjoy breakfast before your transfer to the airstrip for your flight to Wilson Airport in Nairobi. Your guest representative will meet and transfer you to Jomo Kenyatta International Airport for your onward travel arrangements.
